Poplar Hill Mountain Dulcimer
The Poplar Hill mountain dulcimer is our top of the line concert or "artist" model. It is a beautifully crafted instrument suitable for both the professional and the novice musician. This model is larger than the others and has a wider and deeper body, producing a deep rich tone and greater volume. The fretboard is also wider to easily accommodate any string configuration: four equally spaced strings, three equally spaced strings, or double melody strings equally spaced with two drones.
The standard Poplar Hill features a bookmatched black walnut body with gracefully curved Pennsylvania Dutch style heart-shaped sound-holes hand-carved into a bookmatched top of western red cedar. Each side has five steam bends, gently contouring the body at both the headstock and the tailpiece. The back seam decorative inlay is a repeating colorful pattern.
